Department of Policy and Supervision
This main department consists of the Policy department and the Supervision department
Policy Department
The Policy Department is responsible for providing general (policy and legal) advisory services and for the preparation and implementation of policies related to the domain of public works.
This includes the preparation and implementation of legislative proposals, conducting internal policy research, drafting internal policies, and preparing policy reports. To support the work of the various departments, the necessary policy documents are developed by the Policy Department and submitted to the Minister responsible for Infrastructure for approval.
Once approval is obtained and the policy document is published, the relevant policy can be applied.
Under the Policy Department, the Public-Private Projects (PPP) unit has also been established.
This unit is responsible for Public-Private Projects. The departments of Policy & Oversight, Design & Planning, and Execution continue to play a significant role in the preparation, legal support, and guidance of PPPs based on the knowledge and experience gained. This includes overseeing the contract management of the PPPs, such as the Green Corridor and the Watty Vos Boulevard.
Supervision Department
The Supervision Department is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the Building and Housing Ordinance, excavation work by utility companies, and explosives or fireworks. The prompt processing of building permit applications is the top priority of this main department, in line with the government's policy to stimulate economic development in the private sector.
